Emily won this award for her commitment and hard work, including her exceptional care for the animals at Council's animal care facility and her passion to find them new homes. Emily works tirelessly to provide enrichment and improve the quality of life of the animals in Council's care, and actively promotes responsible animal practices within the community. This work can be far from glamorous, including working in the dark and cold, trapping community cats to help break the cycle of unchecked breeding.
This year Emily also completed a Certificate IV in Animal Behaviour and Assessment, which will further benefit the animals in Council's care. | Cessnock City Council’s Ranger Services team constructively contributes to Hunter Councils via various meetings and committees, in addition to being involved in pro-active training days and workshops. This collaboration demonstrates the teams willingness to continually improve processes and refine necessary skills required to fulfil their roles to a high standard. The team operate as an honest, reliable and supportive unit, that undertake their roles in line with Council’s code of conduct, strategic direction and Council values of Integrity, Respect, Teamwork, Accountability and Excellence. Council’s Ranger Services team positively engages within the community, drawing on their extensive networks and ranger experience, in solving arising issues, animal welfare concerns and educational awareness programs, for the betterment of the local government area. |
